1990 cherokee
Trying to pass connecticut emissions. It has the emissions light not a check engine light. So I followed the instructions for pulling codes jumping the number six and seven pins with a jumper wire. My problem is that its supposed to flash a twelve code then any code that may be wrong with the jeep but the light never does anything but stays lit with or without the jumper. I have also reset the computer but the light just stays on immediately as soon as key is turned. Im new to the site. Ive worked on these jeeps for years never had a strange problem that I couldn't solve but this one got me. Anyone have any ideas

if you are talking about the emissions light around the stereo that it is set to come on every so many miles, the only way to get it to go out is to unplug it or replace the time, its a one time use. 90 cherokee did not come with a check engine light, it has a place for it but no bulb.

called emissions timer, its 50 bones, easier to unplug it, sits right under the dash board by your legs, its a clear thingy like in the pic on teamcherokee
