Anybody Install After-Market Seat Heaters?
Where did you tap into for the power feed?
As the title implies, I am putting in some after market seat heaters. They have their own relays and switches.
I'm asking where I should tap into to power them.
Obviously after the key switch - you don't want a left on heater draining the battery.
It must have at least some decent current carrying fuses and wire.

I took the easy way out and installed a strap-on heating pad for the driver's seat that just plugs into the cigarette lighter. Inexpensive, quick, and easy; and works really well. If the combined current draw of your seat heaters does not exceed the fuse on that circuit that would probably a good one to tap into. (My '99 has two cigarette-lighter style power outlets in the dash. One is switched with ignition and the other is not.)

Hmm i took a different route and spliced in power feed from my power drivers seat since the combo has enough amps to pull through the fuse, just cant use both at the same time lol. well edit i can! but i am afraid to pop the fuse but in theory i can use everything together lol

hmm if i remember right every option is plug and play which mine just plugged right into a socket located under the passenger side floor trim. granted that is a distance for your seats. id honestly just use a fuse tap.

When a '97 and up XJ has heated seats both sides are power.
There are ones without heated seats and only the driver's side is power.
They both use that circuit breaker in the fuse box in the foot well though.
When I say '97 and up that might be wrong.
I am kind of under the impression that heated seats were not available in '97. And maybe even '98.
But don't quote me on that.
In poking through the wiring diagrams and fuse boxes, it looks like the cigar lighter is the best option for what I want to tap the power feed off of.
It is near the console so running the wires under the console to the seats will be easy.
It has a 25 amp fuse and has a relay set to close with ignition on as I want it to be.
I don't smoke so there isn't a chance I'd need to run both and blow the fuse.
Oddly, even for the 25 amp fuse the wire is only 16 gauge, but we should be ok.
