Default Another problem....

So I went to pick a friend up from the airport 3 hours away a couple weeks back. This would be the first time my Jeep will go 70+mph since I put my new lift and tires on. To no surprise I didn't have the speed I used to. A new problem, however, has come up. It is not a constant problem. It will start, my check engine light will come on, over night, or within 48 hours, it will go away. It seems to only do it when I drive my jeep more. It'll go a week or so with out it doing it, and then it will do it. Im not quite sure how to explain "it". Its like it doesnt want to go? First gear seems fine and then it'll shift hard into second, and then its like Ive lost power. Ill still accelerate, but very slowly, and the rpms stay low, they dont go above 2000 or so, only when I have the pedal all the way to the floor is when It'll start to do anything, but then the rpms go extremely high right away. Like I said though, it is not a constant problem, it runs great and then it will start this. Help would be appreciated. I can answer questions too if i didnt make 100% sence, hopefully I did. Thanks.

The cps would kill it completely (or at least it did in my case) and it won't start until it cools off (once again, in my case). But sensors fail and do different things, because every Jeep is unique. How many miles does your Jeep have? When I looked it up, the cps seemed to go out for everyone around every 80k miles, mine was around 86k.

What code are you getting? Possibly related to a malfunctioning TPS?

Thank you. Just from reading some of the first link its extremely helpful. Never thought twice about my reverse lights and how they have a mind of their own could be connected to a bigger problem.

Actual code list. I don't remember what my code was, but your symptoms sound similar to when my TPS sensor went out.

0753 is shift 3-4 solenoid,
0705 is transmission range sensor (NSS)
0700 is transmission control system malfunction.

Cleaning or replacing the NSS will probably get rid of the 0705 and 0700. Might possibly clear the 0753. if not check solenoid resistance and trans connectors. Earlier trans' didn't really consider the NSS to select overdrive and such, I believe later years do.
Test your TPS and see if the output voltage is in spec and tracks throttle movement in a linear fashion too.

I was looking online at nss's just pricing things out in case cleaning it doesnt fix it. I found an "aftermarket" one on 1A Auto for $50, first thing that comes to my mind, is to good to be true. I looked at reviews for the site and didnt find anything horrible, but it is an after market part not oe replacement. Then I found one on autopartswarehouse(i trust them) for $42 that is an oe replacement. Ill put links below, the cheaper something is the more eary I am of buying it. Would one of these be a good purchase if I end up having to buy one? I dont have a problem spending more money, but if I dont have to I'd rather not.

Thanks again.

Update. I tested the tps. The voltage was not in spec, so I went ahead and bought a new one and put it on today. However, It doesn't really seem like it changed a whole lot if anything? Still having trouble getting up into the rpms in second gear but now when I floor it it doesnt take off like It was before and then now its slipping out of gear aswell(which is a new development) Was going to order a new nss tonight, but I thought id post an update and see what you pros think?

Have you adjusted the TV cable recently, the one that runs from the throttle to the transmission?
Did you get the TPS installed correctly so it rotates with the throttle?

I havent touched the cable. As for insalling it correctly im fairly sure I did? Had to slightly move my throttle so that the tps would fit in correctly with the piece inside the throttle body? Then then screwed bolts back in and connected it back to the connector.
