Who cares how it is marketed? If it is a good product why worry your little head about how the company decides to deliver the product. I have not yet use Amsol products, but I'm seriously thinking about starting because I've heard nothing but positive performance results, and people whining about how it's distributed.

I guess if I had a bunch of ladies longerie and "ladies pleasure" stashed away in the garage in Tupperware containers, I'd be bitter about multi-level marketing myself......LOL. And Amsoil for a personal lubricant? That would put me into orbit!!.

I won't pass out any more troll food, but I will say all of my axles get Amsoil Severe Gear.

Folks I love a good debate as much as the next guy (or girl), but try and keep it family friendly.
No need to discuss personal pleasure products when discussing motor and gear oil.
I have never EVER used Amsoil, however I do HATE those pyramid money making schemes. I've had a sales pitch tossed at me twice, and never saw the appeal.
With that said it sounds like we've got some good experiences with Amsoil, and one guy who doesnt seem to like itbecause of their marketing attempts.
I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion, everyone else needs to as well. No need to bring up the other unnecessary products. We are, after all, an automotive forum.

After doing a bit of looking around and asking questions, I found 8 local AMSOIL dealers that are all within 10 miles of my house.

The point in bringing up the multi-level marketing tactic was because if it really was a legitimate product they'd sell it through normal retailers rather than back alleys. Parts houses, big box stores etc would jump on it.
Product-wise it's nothing special, it may even be inferior.
But you can see their honesty in this thread. One person was led to believe they were getting the best price for a fleet by selling direct to them. But at the same time the company was "backdooring" (competing with) their own sales force.
It just shows their honesty and integrity.
An honest company protects their own sales force.
Now - when their own employees cannot trust them, why would you trust them enough to put "their stuff" in your engine?
Besides the advertising hype - what really do they put in it?
You can put in whatever snake oil you want, but I'll stick with major proven oil companies.
Personally I've never tried the stuff, and probably never will.
As far as diffs are concerned - several oils claim to have the slippery additive already in it. They work, but the stuff seems to dissipate fast. In about 30k miles you'll start hearing the clunking from the clutches not disengaging when they should. That will tear up the clutches fast.
The best way is even if they claim to have it, add a tube anyway. Or at least add a tube at about 30k miles. Too much - within reason, will not cause the clutches to slip excessively. If the clutches are slipping it's caused by weak springs in the assy.
---- DO NOT PUT IT IN DIFFS THAT ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR IT - IT CAN MAKE THEM SLIP. (ARB's, Eaton etc.) -----
With diff oil without the additive, one tube is good for 80-100,000 miles.
Currie found synthetic oils do not transfer the heat away from the gears as well as regular old fashioned dino oil. When they find a diff has been run with synthetic it voids their warranty.
They should know!
If it doesn't carry the heat in diffs, I won't use it tranys or engines either. Heat transfer is a good part of the reason we flood it with oil!
But run what you want - all I'm trying to do is get your eyes open beyond advertising hype and internet bull.
Some will think, others won't. That's why we have an elitist runaway government.

I see no internet bull or advertising hype here.
I see a few guys here who have had positive experience, and one guy bringing up avon and our elitist runaway government...a guy bashing a product he admittedly has never used.

Like I said, I have never used Amsoil, honestly prolly never will (mobil 1 ftmfw), I'm just callin this like I see it.
