My 98 XJ lights started to go dim the other day. I jumped it off and it fired up but the lights started to dim after I unplugged the jumpers. I then had the battery charged and tested. Checked out ok. I then took my alternator off and had that tested and that checked out ok. The wiring checked out ok. Is there a fuseable link for the alternator or a fuse for it because I'm not finding? Also I have 195,000 miles on the alternator. Please help me. By the way the alternator is still off the jeep.

Many times I have read of an alternator that test out good, but it is actually bad
If I were you I will have that mounted, and measure the output right on the alternator, and then on the end of the cable that goes to the battery, there is a chance for that wire to be defective, or the alternator itself, be carefull with the mechanical fan as well (not to get caught)

Removing the battery and tray helped me get my hands in there, but the A/C compressor still blocked it enough to keep it from coming out that way.
if you can remove the compressor then you have clear sailing.
Some were saying in a thread on this a year ago that it takes 10 minutes. Iirc they didn't have compressors in the way.
