have any of you guys used autozones duralast altenators? It is the cheapest i have found so far. Autozone wants 126.99 life warranty, Napa 199.99, murrays 198.99, and they are all 117amps. But i think im going to need an altenator with higher amps, just because i plan on running a winch, system, and my jeep is going to have 8 offroad lights on it. LOOKING FOR A GOOD ALTENATOR WITH WARRANTY FOR A GOOD PRICE. Any help greatly appreciated THANK YOU

 

go to an automobile electronics shop and have it rebuilt. cheaper and better.

I took mine to a guy who does total rebuild, it is better than new and will last alot longer.

 

How long does this usually take? I can't be without my XJ except on weekends as it is my DD.

 

I put a Duralast alternator in my son's 87 XJ 2 years ago and I just put one in my 91 XJ....So far, so good on both.for that price of $126.99 at Autozone you also get a lifetime warranty. If it ever craps, they replace it for free.

 

whats the avg. cost of a rebuild and how much more amps does it produce

 

Kragen/Shucks/Checker have their autolite platinum or whatever for around 110$ including core charge. Its 100+ amp, but if you ahve a good alt shop, they can rebuild yours and make it higher output.

 

Bought a Pep Boys rebuilt .. 'bout $120 ... while on the road to Oregon two yrs ago .... stil crankin' out the juice ... l

 

I brought mine in and they one all done waiting for me.

 

Just got mine back from guy who rebuilt mine for $165, made my jeep run bad, now running perfect.
