Okay, so I have searched and could not find anyone with this exact problem.

I left my door open overnight and it dint kill the battery. It started right up. Later that day I went to start it and just went click click click. Dead battery. Got it jumped and drove off. About a quater of a mile down the road it died.
So, I noticed the just before it died the volt gauge was at zero. I assumed that it meant the altenator was bad. So I replaced it. Got it jumped and it ran about a two miles down the road and died. I bought a new battery since I was an two hours from home and decided to just drive it on battery power.

So.....since I replaced the altenator and battery and still see no charging of the battery ( I could see the gauge dropping as I drove home).

Anybody have a clue where I should start next?

Btw... the check engine light was on , but today its not, and its a 91 cherokee briarwood.

I'd pull the code(s) for the CEL. Maybe it will point to the problem
