Does anyone have any experience with this welder

Would it be powerful enough to make a bumper. it says to weld up to half inch but the DIY bumper i want to buy is on 3/16".

let me hear what you have to say.

It would get you by.I would gor for a bigger welder at least a 220. That welder only has a 25% duty cycle at 80 amps. that means you can only weld for 2.5 minutes out of every 10. Bigger welder = bigger duty cycle

It would probly do the job but you may also want to buy a grinder and some flap wheels. If you plan on doing more than just 1 bumper you should maybe invest in a bigger better welder. Good for you for D.I.Y.

speaking from experience i would say get a better welder, ive had plenty of buddies cheap out and go for the 120V welders and they all regret it and end up at my place using my 220V lincoln, its a Lincoln Electric weld-pak 175HD, by no means a top of the line welder but when i bought it i needed something for starting out as i had only briefly played around with stick welding, it has since built bumpers for my jeep along with a lot of other stuff, built bumpers for my brothers yota along with a SAS, along with extensive work from patching frames to floor boards on our hunting yota ive done everything from sheet metal up to half inch......however the half inch needed to be grooved to get decent penetration. In the end im glad i went with a 220V over the 120V cause even though i bought the welder so i could build a bumper its going to get used for much more than that one project i can guarantee that.

harbor freight manages to constantly let me down i would find a more reliable company if i were you

also the small amount of welding that i have done has been with a 110 flux and a mig would be far better

I got a nice lincoln 135 mig welder for pretty cheap at Lowes. Ive welded truck frames with it before and it works great!

My friend has the exact same welder and it sucks, you can hardly weld exhaust with it, then once you get a bead going it shuts off because it over heats.
