92 4.0 ho cherokee. When I turn on any of the inside air (a/c vent heat defrost) the air only comes out of the defrost.

Any ideas as to why?

Do a quick search for vacuum canister. It is located under the front bumper and commonly has a leaking hose. Follow the hoses along and you will surely have a leak. Repair it and your heater controls will function again.

I moved it from the spot on the bumper to inside the engine bay. Will run all the lines down as my cruise doesn't work either.

Thanks

i had a disconnected vent inder the passenger side dash. (the cable that opens and closes the heater) similar problem but not exactly the same. double check that too.

I believe that canister also affects your cruise.

Before you go tearing out the bumper off to get to that canister, check the skinny little hard plastic vacuum line running behind the battery along the wheel well for breaks - mine was crushed apart by someone - a little section of rubber hose clamped in place to join it back up gave me vacuum again for heat/AC controls.

Mine does it too, I've found that turning the fan down to "1" and then changing the vent setting usually does the trick.

This is exactly what I was talkin about. No need to tear the bumper off. The lines are easy enough to follow.
