Default Additional Reverse Lights

I'm looking to mount some small rectangular fog lights in the rear bumper that will come on with my reverse lights, my first question is will this be legal, and my second question is will I be able to tap right off the reverse lights themselves or will they draw to much power.

I already have a wire running to the back of the jeep for an additional power port in the back so I could use that for power and use a relay to make them come on with the reverse lights if necessary.

use a relay to activate. I don't know if they are illegal where you are. in Jersey any added or aftermarket light is generally illegal , but as long as they work correctly and are not "aimed" to high I would more than likely over look them during the inspection. As a matter of fact you can now have a blown out brake light bulb and I can't fail it, I can only "advise for repair"......but the Police will still give you a ticket for it....gotta love Jersey!

I linked miine straight to the reverse light. Doesnt seem to draw any extra power and makes a world of difference. I bought my lights off ebay for 25 bucks and is def worth it

Same here ^ I just tapped into the reverse lights and they work wonders. Its night and day from the stocks. I used a set of cheapo baja lights from wally world.

I'd thought about maybe doing something like that on my '88 Cherokee when I bought it a couple of years ago because of the fact that the stock lights don't give much light. They're pretty much worthless. I never got around to it and just forgot it. Thanks for the idea.

After putting a tinted top on my YJ I added a set of cheap "street racer" lights from walmart. They are nice and small so I easily tucked them out of the way. I would also suggest adding an additional switch to turn them on without being in reverse.

The switch is good to have (i recommend 3 way that way you can have it on auto or manual power) because if you do any night wheeling and have tinted windows(like say 5% hehe) then it is really nice to have. I have my Slim line fog lights mounted to my roof rack. I upgraded the bulbs to HID simulate bulbs off ebay($10 shipped) and they make a brilliant world of difference!
