Accelerator cable adjustment
95 sport. 4.0
Just put in a new accelerator cable and I idle at 3500rpm now. Where do I adjust the idle at? The cable is tight and idle goes back down to normal with the cable removed.

Anyone with exact details on how to solve this? Every post or video I watch for accelerator cable adjustment ended up being a kickdown adjustment. Quite annoying!

Oh and before anyone asks, it's a mopar cable not an aftermarket cable and all the part numbers match. Everything about the cables are identical.

What's the spring on the cable for then? It's in a plastic housing and when I broke that housing the idle shot up to 3500. Compressing the spring brought it back down to normal but with the housing broken I obviously had to replace it. I don't know what it's for or if it's for adjusting but I'm not going to risk breaking another one until I find out for sure.

Only on GP me thinks good light, maybe sleep on it, another fresh look in the AM. Something simple is out of whack. One housing end out, something not clipped or seated all the way. Mine is very different, I had an old sleeve type thing binding.

I'll get better pictures when I get home and poke around with it. The way the cable is shaped though it would take some serious twisting to put it in wrong.
