99 with no horn ??
Horn does not work at horn pad, no click from the relay, nothing. Zero. I does however work with the panic button on the remote.
Also, airbag light is NOT on. So, I'm thinking possibly clock spring, or i remember reading that some years had some wire melty thing at the bittom of the column. I don't have a puller for my steering wheel, and my back is shot which makes getting under the dash painful so...before i rent a puller or remove my drivers seat so i can get under my dash, i thought i'd ask what you all thought was most likely culprit.
IF its clock springx is there a decent aftermarket one that works that i can buy at RockAuto? Or would i be better off pulling one at the junkyard?

May just need to clean the connectors on the clock spring. Pretty easy process to remove it and unwind it to look for breaks. I had an airbag light and no horn, and cleaning the contacts fixed the issue. Not sure why they are so expensive as there is not much to them.
When I reinstalled mine it was noisy for the first few miles making turns. I was a little worried I didn't coil it back right, but it went away after it settled in. Take pictures before you take it out so you can remember how it goes back in.

When you turn the key to the on position do the following warning lights come on for bulb check?
Airbag warning indicator, seat belt warning indicator and low washer fluid indicator.
Also will your cruise control still work?

To answer your question...only the following lights come on: check engine light, check gauges light, airbag light, seatbelt light and low fuel light. That's it. My windshield washer is inop, I assumed was the pump ( front wipers work fine, rear washer works fine). And my XJ is not equipped with cruise control.

Sorry I haven’t got back to you but I am as confused as you as to what is causing your no horn problem.
In your opening post you stated that the air bag light was not lighting up; which is not a common indication of a clockspring failure.
In my post 4 I asked you to run a bulb check.
In your post 5 you replied that the air bag bulb was one of the lights that were OK; so air bag bulb is OK and not burned out.
Clockspring are about $100.00 dollars and I’m not convinced that is your problem. Sorry but I haven’t found a way to prove one way or the other on the clockspring.

Sorry, I guess I didn't make myself clear. I had read somewhere that some guys would loose their horn and their airbag light would come on and stay on. I was stain that my airbag light not on constantly, was not saying that the bulb check wasn't working. Yes, my airbag bulb check works, then the light goes out. Just the horn is inop.
