98 Xj Transmission problem
well my problem its my transmission was shifting first gear perfect. but the next she whit shift first gear , but when she hits her rpm for second it shift? my mistake i put 98 but its 87 xj

I have nearly the same prob on my 89XJ.. it locks the axels when i shift it to park but nothing happens when i shift to either gears that should move the car in any direction.. i should add that i have just lifted the heep 3.5" but it ran a day after that.. it started slipping as a burnd cluch would and then finaly no movment.. but it still locks in park.

Then the mechanical parts of your tranmission are OK. You have an electrical control problem.
Exactly what happens when you take off from a stop with the transmission in "D"?
What gear do you start out in?
Does it shift from 1st to 2nd?
2n'd to 3rd?
3'rd to 4th?
Are the shifts happening at the appropriate RPM, or does the engine rev up really high before shifting?
