Default 97 xj oil pressure problems

So my oil pressure guage read
O(out of 80) at idle and then about 20-30 when I gave it gas (2500rpm), then I put a tad more oil in it (it was in the safe before) and now reads 50 cold and fluctuates when hot.
I just recently put a new oil pressure sending unit on.
On a regular day basis I read (10-15) idle and (40-50)at regular driving speed
Is my oil pump finally giving up?

If yours is an 07, you are in the wrong forum. These forums are platform specific. Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, etc.

Go back to the home page and pick the correct forum for your model/year.....

More likely a bad sender or connection to the sender, or partially clogged passage that feeds the sender than the oil pump.

I guess I don't understand the idea of a clogged passage. Pressure should move debris as well as oil, to get an indication (??) Of course it's Jeep, and many things are different
