97 4.0 Auto won't start
So, something finally went out.
I had to change my battery (died on me), replaced it with a new one, started, the Jeep was running ok. Turned it off, started again, and that's it. Won't start again. Turns and sounds like its ALMOST there.
I was able to determine I have fuel and spark.
I had a head on with a tree, minor damage before that, that's fixed.
No codes, no check engine light.
A crank sensor malfunction would not give spark from what I read. What else could it be?

Ok, got it started. Had to shift to N, apply break and half-throttle. It will die if I don't keep the revs up with the throttle. After 2 minutes it idles ok.
What died?

I know you replaced the battery, but was it completely charged before you installed it? I'd also consider "load testing" it. It is somewhat rare, but you can get a DOA battery direct from the parts store. I've had it happen to me once.
Gotta verify electrical before looking elsewhere.

Thanks for your answers. It stalls at idle RPMs from time to time now.
1. Battery is ok, checked before installing.
2. Idle values - yes, that was my first thought, but I think it should stop stalling if this is the case.
I guess I got to do the regular IAC, TPS, O2 sensor tests. I will post what I find for future readers.
