96 xj trans works in 97?
So I did a engine and trans swap from a 96 xj to a 97 xj. Everything hooked up properly except for the nss pigtail connector and the other pigtail for the other side of the trans. The pigtail for a 96 and below is more like a rectangle and its black, 97 and later have a square pigtail that's grey. So I got a replacement nss for a 97 put it on hooked it up, Jeep won't even crank because I don't have the pigtail for the other side of the trans connected because its the wrong size. I was thinking could I swap the trans out for a 97? Like keep a 96 engine and put a 97 trans on it?

I believe the parts on the other side of the trans are sensors, ive gotten all removed except for one which is like a black circle ball that sits right in the trans, you can pull it out some but you will see there are 3 wires that go from the bottom to inside the trans, idk how to disconnect them or the sensor
