96 XJ Stereo Problems

I just finished installing my Alpine HU that I took out of my previous vehicle, and now I'm getting spotty FM reception and no AM reception. The only wires from the HU harness I didn't hook up where the Power antenna.

Any ideas what I can do to get these receptions to work?

According to Marty at Crutchfield, it is an antenna issue. Has anyone ever replaced an antenna on their XJ?

I had a reception issue on my 93 XJ and replaced the Pioneer head that came with it with a Kenwood and still had the issue. Turned out it was a connector behind the lower right kick plate (next to the passenger's feet) that became loose.
