Default 95 Cherokee rear brake proplem.

I recently replaced the front brakes of my Jeep and that was pretty EZ.Hoever I wasnt familiar with the rears so I had a guy who had a Cherokee did the rears about a month later(I wasnt driving the rig). Once back I found out the driver side rear was getting hot. He had replaced the wheel cylinders and the drums and all new hardware. I jacked up the jeep and didnt seem to drag. So he replaced the wheel cylinder again thinking it was sticky. Once again the driver side rear was still gettin hot. He then replaced the drums again said they was out of round, I think cause it got hot. So it still had a the same proplem. he replaced the driver side hose as he later told me he pinched it off to keep the fluid from draining out. he said the jeep was done and I drove it to work and both rear brakes are hot now. fronts are alot cooler. He said he had a infrared temp gun and said was fine. I told him the proplem and said I was done with him. as it was costing him now to do a simple job.He never wanted to help more.

Next day I took the Jeep to Firestone automotive and told them the same thing. They looked at it and said the guy did a good job and cant find any binding or proplems . Just driving around the block or 2 miles its fine. But about 15 miles it starts getting hot.
Only think I can think of is maybe when I bleed the fronts by pushing the master cyl in fully maybe a ck valve broke in there or something. and has nohing to do with the rears orginally. I dont know what else to do.
When on a slight incline I hit the brake and it releases.

Is there another way to ck this?
Emergency cable is loose.
I jack up the wheel even when hot it still spins freely.

Master cylinder?
Proportioning valve?

re bleed fronts? But I swear it was good. I use the plastic bottle and a clean line to make sure no air bubbles.

pedal is near top when pushed in , about a inch

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly do you mean by "hot"? What is the measured temp with the IR thermometer? What is being affected by the wheel being hot?

What exactly do you mean by "hot"?
Hot as a ****!!!1

you can stand by the rear wheel and feel it/smell it and hot to the touch and fronts are just warm. Fronts should be hotter if anything.

The guy that did this had a cherokee and assume he didnt put the bads on backwards if that is even possible as the emergency brake works.

I know Datsuns not jeeps so this is new to me but the Hydralics should be pretty much the same except for the proportion valve and booster.

I have a extra set of shoes at home will look to see if this is possible.(backwards)

Are you sure fronts are working properly not causing rears to over work ?

I loosen up the rear adjusters all the way. on both sides. However drums was not draggin when I jacked it up .

Fronts seems to work after I changed them out.

what does the proportion valve do exactly??????????
Is it cross section or for front and back.

I will drive later on today.

I put on jacks and let it drive in 5th gear for about 15mins and didnt seem to get hot. But driving around for 5 mins the drums do not get hot its about 10-15 miles and not on the brakes.

update later

UPDATE.
I loosened up the rear adjusters fully.
The brakes still get hot with minimal braking after about 8 miles.

One thing I forgot to mention is when I did the front brakes. The pass front I used a C clamp to sqeeze the caliper back in to position. However I did not open the bleed screw and eventully the caliper seal broke.
I replaced with a new caliper and when I did the driver side front I opend the bleed screw.Everything was fine. However I really did not drive this till I had the other guy do the rear brakes. It possibel I broke it before I gave it to him.
I called a buddy and he said I possible broke the proportion valve or cause it to think to move the braking in th rear. Or I broke a safty valve in the master cylinder, soemthing of that nature.

what You guys think.?
Just swap booth and thay should take care of it

Time for a rear disc conversion! Get rid of those nasty drum brakes.

But, mods aside, in what condition are your drums? Perhaps they are uneven on the braking surfaces, which could cause extra friction...

Drums are brand new and the 2nd set and drums adjusters loose as possible.

I might try a new master and proportion valve otherwise after that I dont know besides selling it for scrap.
