It's definitely the AW4. I believe they changed half way through 91 to a different spline count. You would be safe with anything after that until 2001.

I believe the renix (87-90) AW4 is different then the newer ones. Try looking for a tranny within a couple years of yours(93-96)

Well yes and no. Can't remember years so please bear with me. The early early ones have less electronics in them.
In rhe mid 90s (I think) the spline count changed from 21-23. In late 97 the changed the connectors.
Things I do know...... You can use really just about any years tranny but it would require some work. Some more, some less.
Type AW4 in the search function and it will bring up a wealth of info.
It will provide you with better info than what my aging mind can provide. I worked 12 hours today and I'm beat..... Just can't seem to be able to stay away from here.

ok, tell me what you guys think of this so i dont run out and buy one. in D it will shift 1 into 4 with no 2nd or 3rd but if i downshift it into 3rd it goes 3rd. i put it in 3 and it shifts 1 into 3 no 2nd. and on a very so often occasion it will rev high in first 3k to be exact i let off gas and it goes into 3. im very confused has new fluid in it. and 2 coolers.

If I remember correctly you turn your key on and off on and off. Your check engine light will start blinking. Then pause then start again. If for example it blinks twice pauses then blinks four times.
You have code "24" Count the blinks and make note the numbers..... Idk if yours has a diagnostic port but I'm sure it does.
Take her to a parts store and have them hook a reader to her. Or you can buy one.
Hope this helps. Either your issue is really simple or something screwy is going on.

is there anyway i can jump a wire to make it go into 2nd to see what it does? like how can i force the solenoids to select second.

There's a write on a selector switch for that.... There's even a really nice clean unit that you can buy online.
