Transmission fluid leak

Transmission fluid leak
98 4.0 AW4
When driving in stop and go city traffic on hot days, looks like I am getting some trans fluid dripping onto the exhaust from the rear of the transmission pan causing some smoking. Is the transmission pan gasket the likely culprit or is there anything else I need to look for?
If it is the gasket and I need to take the pan off, any tips or anything I should do once I have the pan off? Thanks
