93 smoking from the column

93 cherokee country blew the 20A maxi fuse under the hood put a 30 in there like the electrical wizz kid that i am and it started smoking in the steering column, any one got an idea about the clock spring or if they even had them in this year? i looked for parts and didnt come up with nothin. also anyone know how to get the trim off the column with out breaking anything?

im callin a clock spring a clock spring just wasnt sure if they had them in the 93, it was the hazard lamp fuse under the hood, which makes since cause the brake lights arent lightin up either and they are wired to that fuse as well

From what I recall a lot of 12 VDC current is traveling through the column.
If you saw smoke, you most likely melted some insulation and shorted some things out in the column.
I believe even the Heat/AC Blower fan power runs through the column to the switch and back out but not 100% sure on that one.
Time to pull it all apart and do some rewiring!
This is doing it old school - keep blowing a fuse? just put in a bigger fuse and follow the smoke to the problem!
