91 Cherokee Heater Core Vacuum Lines
Evening all!
Cherokee Forum has helped me countless times, by that I mean you all, and I couldn't be more grateful. Glad to have finally joined and hope that I can return the favor in the future.
That said... just recently my heat/air will only blow from the defrost vents. Popped the hood and noticed that the thin black vacuum line that runs next to the white heater control valve line, and through the firewall/foam into the heater core- was split in half.
So I cut a small section of washer bottle tubing from the junkyard and 'spliced' the vacuum line back together, and sealed the firewall end of the line with gorilla glue super glue (it WORKS).
My question is, can these thin vacuum lines be replaced without removing the ENTIRE heater core? The fix should work for a while but I'd prefer to replace the broken line. Anyone ever run into this?? Replaced this??
I can't believe the function of the heater/air controls is entirely dependent on one thin EXPOSED vacuum line..

Thanks Cruiser!!
The line that broke runs with the thin white heater control valve line, into the firewall, then into the heater core. I'm trying to attach a pic of what I'm referring to.. hope it works... here goes! I circled the line in red, and put an arrow where it goes into the firewall..

The black line is vacuum going to the heater control. The white one is vacuum going out to the heater control valve. Ditch the valve and cap the white hose.
Carry on.
