I've been looking for some hood vents but I like the large Louver designs. I've been looking at these for quite some time and was curious if anyone else has seen or installed any other brands? I'm only interested in the full hood vents like in the link, thanks.
I would be scared in the winter time they would let snow melt and have water drip on the top of the engine.
I have not had any issues with moisture in the engine bay (I also use die-electric grease in most electric connections), but in the winter it does affect my xj warming up so I made plates to block off the vents in the winter.
I really dig these, I have one of those that I plan on using on my trailer build. They are pretty reasonable for what they are.
Very cheap mod. Scariest thing about it was cutting the first hole into the hood, after that that I was committed. I painted the edges of the holes to prevent rust used 1/2 angle on the bottoms to stiffen them up and a little silicone to seal the tops.
Rod Louvers' has Panels that are 20" wide and 16" long. Mounting hardware provided is 3/4" long 1/4-20 Stainless Steel Button Head Machine bolts with self locking nuts

I know what you mean, once you cut the hole there is no turning back. I put a overhead console in my XJ from a Ford F-150. To do so I had to plug weld the mounting plate I made from the roof top. I plan on hitting the salvage yard to see if I can cut a section of roof so that when I mount that vent I can weld it in. (My vent is made of steal). I don't want the vent sticking up to high so that if I want to mount a roof rack for any reason I can still vent it out under the load. Kicking around the idea of mounting a overland roof tent.
After looking at your XJ again you have the same front Bumper I have. I love the look and the approach angle it gives me.
