89 transfer case help

Default 89 transfer case help
planatary gears in my 89' xj transfer case locked up(242) w/4 spd auto trans,will a (231)out of a 5- speed model work? or are the splines different?

What year is the 5 speed from? if it is a ax-5 or pugeot with 21 spline you should be fine,if it is an ax-15 with 23 spline it will not.
