So my first Michigan winter with the Jeep is around the corner. Question: Do any of you cold weather brothers use a lighter weight oil during winter. Im currently running 10w40. Would 5w30 be a better weight for winter? Its oil change time so I was wondering if it makes a difference. Please excuse my South West Coast ignorance.

 

I also have a 96 XJ and in the manuel it says to run 10-40 in summer and 10-30 in winter. So thats what I do.

 

I always go to 5W30 in the Winter. It starts a lot easier and is recommended by Chrysler.

 

So is the 10-30, Its in my owners manuel from Chrysler.

 

Either the five or the ten/thirty will work well.

 

Thanks guys! 5/10w30 it is. Myabe I should mix a two qts of 5w and 10w to make 7.5w30. hahaha, j/k.
