89 Renix oil capacity
Hello members
I got an 89 Renix, just bought it a month ago, changed the oil last weekend, and almost 2 gallons came out, level seemed to be OK right on the full line.
I changed the oil filter, and added 6 quarters, started the engine for a couple of minutes, let is rest for a minute and measured the oil, it was just on the ADD line!
Is there a chance I got the wrong stick? after I have performed a few searches everything indicates that it should be full with 6 quarters?

I'm clearly a bad judge of trolling because it seems like a legitimate question for a new owner. The capacity is indeed 6 quarts. If you replaced the filter and dumped in 6 quarts of oil but it only reads to the "ADD" line on your dipstick then assume that is the normal level.
As a new owner, you should look up Cruiser54's Renix tips and work your way through the list. Not only will it familiarize you with the quirks of a Renix motor but it'll improve reliability and performance. Welcome to the club.

Oh, the "6 quarters"? LOL. I bet that's an auto-text eff-up. I don't even think 6 quarters would show up on your dipstick but it would definitely be a cheap oil change.

You can check the dipstick- from the bell-shaped cap up top to the 'FULL' mark= 21 5/8".
You might let it sit longer before checking too, might not be draining back completely. Esp. if you have a heavier-weight oil and its' cold outside.
The quarters were for the car wash, but switch-ups happen sometimes. You didn't make a big oil mess at SuperWash, did you?
