seems to be transmission thing, is it low on transmission fluid? either way seems like it is slipping.

Could be misfiring. Lets hope transmission is slipping due to low transmission fluid.

don't know really today I went to the store and cruising along at like 25 it would not move wouldent go any faster like it had no power I would let of the gas for a sec then hit it and it would start moving right along picking up speed.

no I went to autozone and asked the guy he seemed like an idiot I told him I thought I needed tranny fluid and I dident know how to check good cuz my dad wasn't around. and the guy says im supposed to check a tranny cold and that ur supposed to check engine oil hot I laughed and said I got the manual right here and no where does it say that. he proceeds to look and pulls it out and says its fine looks like theres some in it. so I don't really know at this point.

So you are saying that even when you push the pedal all the way down the vehicle does not pickup speed AND the tach also does NOT move?

If that the case, the first and easiest thing to look at is the throttle cable. Make sure its not sticking, stretched, or needs to be adjusted. Even if the tranny was slipping a bit and/or the TPS were bad, the engine RPM should still go up, even if you don't pickup any speed.

If the tach/engine speed is moving up when you press on the pedal, but you are not picking up speed, easiest and quickest thing to check the tranny fluid. Make sure its full. If it is, move to the TPS. Probably causing the torque converter to lock and unlock.

I don't know if this will help but if the rpms do not raise at all when pushing on the pedal then put the jeep in park and open the hood, next look by the throttle body(there will be a black hose going to it, it is what sucks air into the engine) there will be a little tab like thing with some wire cable attached. push that slowly down simulating pushing on the pedal. if your rpms raise while doing that 100% of the time you know your trouble is between there and the pedal.
hope this helps man

Here's a thought. Check the fluid using the instructions on the dipstick...............

which obviously state to check the engine while hot why would I look at the dipstick when I have the owners manual which says exactly what to do I warmed it up cycled threw all the gears.

My dad adjusted the kickdown cable I believe to make it not down shift all the time so much that's prolly all it is.

he said he could readjust it but then again im a punky young kid who wants to smash on the pedal sometimes so really what do I expect.

I just gonna try to be gentle with it and not tromp on the pedal.

heck a buddy of mine had a leaf spring snap while hammering along down the road in a newer Cherokee.

Im just gonna have to be more gentle
