Arrow 87 JEEP xj HELP. Shut off Noises!

Hi i have a 87 XJ 169xxx on her.

And I have taken great care of the tough motor oil change's ect.ect.

When ever i turn my jeep off i hear this Gear noise (So i think) for about 3-4 seconds. never did it tell about 6-7 weeks ago started doing it.

Only explanations i can think of is..
The Flywheel is slowing down and some reason vibrating.

Or it's my exhaust on my jeep. It is alittle damaged. Rust holes in the exhaust. pretty close to my front driveline.

Any idea's because i have no idea. She start's up really nice. no noise. runs rough in the morning with some slight noise feels like the exhaust too.

So i don't know HELP PLEASE?

shooting the wind here... could it be your fuel pump taking a dump? this could be a good time to make a video of this issue to explain better?

my first thought on shut of noises is "dieseling" where the engine continues to try to turn from excess carbon burning off but it doesn't sound like a gear at all

I'll go ahead and throw my 2 cents in here. Without knowing exactly what it sounds like, my guess is dieseling too.

OP needs to put on some grubbies, grab a flashlight, and slide under the Jeep for a gander. My money's on bad engine/trans mounts causing the exhaust pipe to ground out on the trans crossmember. But, I can't see his Jeep from here.

Cure. .. probably not but it definitely wouldn't hurt at all. Would also help to run your preference of cleaning agents through to try and burn of some carbon.

What speed is your engine idling at?

Put a can of BG44K into a full tank of gas and it will clean the carbon out along with cleaning the injectors.
