Default 8.8 spool question

is the c clip eliminator kit required to run a spool in an 8.8? all the ones i have looked at say that it is required.

never mind. i did a little more searching and figured out that the mini spools do not require the eliminator kit, and theyre cheaper.

I would think you would still need the kit because you can't use c-clips with a spool, mini or full.

thats weird because on summitracing.com it says the c clip eliminator is not required for a mini spool. ????

Full replacement spools (for the 8.8) do indeed require the eliminator kit. A mini spool will not because you are still retaining the factory carrier.


You might have to do a *minor* bit of trimming on the clip in order to allow fitment into the side blocks. I'm talking like 8-10 seconds with a grinder to make it ever so slightly narrower. And not all the mini spools will require this modification.
