Default 55mph to complete halt!!!

so this is causing me much concern right now. if i am entering the highway going thru my gears as normal(ax-15 5 speed) but when i get to 2700rpms-3000rmps in third it will just do a quick jolt like someone locked has a rope tied to my bumper and a solid object and then it will continue like normal. i dont want any damage to my tranny or drivetrain. when it happens everything seems normal. rpms rear normal but again the whole car just kinda stops for a 1/4 second then continues on. it does not happen all the time all spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, injectors, fuel filter air filter, tranny fluid are new. (166xxx mile tune up) it is the wierdest thing, no tire skids or locking up anything. anyone have any idea? its only in third gear too

that is a good way to put it actually. like the entire drive train binds in a split second then releases. however its only in 3rd and only sometimes. and only entering the highway.

Sounds more like your ignition is cutting out for a split second. If something in your trans/rear end bound up like that it would cause internal damage. It would not just clear up and go back to normal. I'd check all of your connections at the PCM and underhood to make sure you don't have a loose connector somewhere. If you can't find anything try letting it idle and shake the wiring harness at different locations trying to get it to cut out.

Does it do this in all temperature ranges? I had a truck with a bad temp sensor that caused the truck to go into limp mode for a second. Watch for a check engine light to flash or come on when this happens.
Just my experiance with a similar problem mabey put you in a better direction?

i went and checked all wires. i had the o2 censor wire melt to the exhaust pipe grounding out causing me to blow fuses anytime the injectors tried to fire (sucky when it happened on a dirt road middle of the turn and lost all engine power) the problem happened before and after the fixed wires too. i am at a loss.

replaced parts:
performance injectors/replaced o-rings
MSD ignition
8.2mm spark plug wires
cap and rotor
spark plugs gapped to .45
o2 censor/wires
cleaned/oiled KnN filter
cleaned intake, tb, tbspacer

most was do as a basic tune up and the rest was to attempt to solve the problem (and prevention) but still no help. again its once a month maybe but i still dont want to break something

i run a mechanical temp gauge and the temp always seems fine. i will look at the check engine light next time it happens.

It never gets worse for mine either. i ruled out the clutch because when i replaced (shop did it since i dont mess with trannys much) it they did the throwout bearings, slave cylinders, resurfaced flywheel, new double friction clutch, all the bearings (and did the rear main seal) and a few other things to make it better than new. so then i thought transfer case for some reason so i serviced that when i serviced my axles. still no fix

Check your motor and transmission mounts. The extra torque you create trying to get up to speed may be pulling at a wire just enough to cause your problem.

checked the motor mounts (replaced about every three months(looking into getting bomb proof)) and they are fine. how do you check the tranny mount?
