My brakes work fine. My break lights work fine. Except for the third (high/center) brake light on the hatch.

Ive replaced the bulb....no change.

I tested the clip-connector at the light with a voltage meter and it doesnt have 12v even with the brake pedal pressed.

My Hanes manual doesnt even mention the light.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Anybody have an illustration of the wire routing so that I can start chasing the rabbit?

There is a mess of wiring in the hatch. Not uncommon for a wire(s) to break in there inside the little rubber boot on the left. The rubber boot on the right is just your washer hose.

There is no '01 FSM but almost positive that the '00 one is exactly the same.

I DO know that the wiring begins in connectors behind the cargo panel where the spare tire mounts. I went to print that page from the FSM and my printer is out of ink! Here's the area that the connector is in.
