Default 35mph

I have 1990 xj and everything shifts fun up until 3rd to 4th gear it upshifts and bogs really bad. And at 45 mph when i let off the gas it stutters and than goes back to normal just doesn't feel right. Also 2nd to 3rd gear is so short like 2 second shift not even going fast. Doesn't feel like i have a lot of power in 3rd or 4th. I know 1990 had a major recall on the tps. A buddy of mine said to adjust it i think I'm going to buy a new one and adjust it and also do a trans fluid change any suggestions on what it could be thanks

Dont feel bad mine has done this for the past year Iv just learned to accept it. I was told I probably need a trans overhaul to fix the issue. My Jeep likes to eat because of this. Just leave it in over drive is my only advice granted you can pick up a lil get up and go and avoid the stutter issue if you run the Jeep in 3rd but just meens higher rpms going down the road.

My buddy said on his truck if you adjust the tps you can set the shifting. And i have the limited edition high output my auto shop teacher worked for jeep 25 years has awards for being a jeep expert he said its got the toyota trans right? And that its one of the best transmissions ever made odometer says 187k if thats original i think my transmission should still be going good. Iv checked the fluid its ruby red an smells good but i have noticed right where the drive shaft an trans meet i have a tiny leak not even enough to drip is that normal?

no drips are normal your trans should not leak at all... you have a aw4 trans.... they are pretty stout your tps might need to be changed or adjusted... btw you also have what they call a Renix jeep
