Default 3-3500k RPM at Startup

Finally getting around to finishing up our build 1999 XJ 4 Door had everything pulled except engine, tran and dash 1st startup in a year and shoots up between 3-3500k and stays steady.

New APN manifold which I read can have fitment issues on our year so made sure to pay close attention and seemed to seat properly and torqued to spec. Rest of the exhaust is new as well as o2 sensors, also has new injectors and bored throttle body.

Have checked plugs, grounds and vacuum all seems good

I just want to see others opinions before removing intake/exhaust manifold?

I kid you not your intake isn't seated properly, when I put my header on i had to realign it like 10 times and it finally fit perfect. Mine did exactly what yours did.

Throttle cable has just a teeny bit of slack and allows the throttle valve to close? Worse comes to worse you can remove the TB and tape up the hole (or try just covering the top of the TB). Have one of your buds (or you) that smokes blow smoke into the brake booster line, the leak should show itself.

That's what I'm thinking to did you use the APN header? Did you have to do any grinding of intake flange?

Yeah there no tension on throttle cable and is closing up completely. I am a smoker so I'll give that a shot thanks for the tip I've always done the misting around the engine bay

I hope so it's the o2's are brand new but wouldn't be 1st time got a bad replacement part lol No CEL yet it hasn't even ran a total of 5 minutes since sitting a year with everything unhooked. Yeah I have a cheap scan tool the key trick or else I just run it to AAP.

Just replaced head gasket on my other jeep and did not have intake seated on the alignment pin. Same issue. Took several attempts. But when it seated I felt it.

Actually I didn't have APN, I bought the Crown Banks Knock off (Crown 4883385HD Exhaust Manifold). Its just a pain getting it to line up perfectly, no grinding or anything and has the strength and outlet of 2.5" instead of 2.25". Once its lined up it pinches down and holds true. I have 5k on my header so far and its a beautiful thing.

I'll have to look into that Crown manifold see how this APN holds up

So, what did you file down to gain the clearance needed?

Yup just smeared a little anti seize on the exhaust runner pressed the intake in and up against exhaust pulled intake to see where the antiseize transferred onto intake then slowly shaved a hair down with cut off wheel
