2wd and Rear Locker

Should I look for a Dana 35 Locker?
Because when I searched on ebay the Dana 35 seems to be compatible with Cherokee 1999.
1999 Cherokee's have Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25 ?
I need to know cause I am already looking to buy it!

I already ordered the locker. I am waiting for it,it will most probably arrive tomorrow. I will try to post updates on how it works (for those 2wd owners)

ummmm, you ordered a locker and you don't know which rear you have?
FYI- they are not interchangeable to different axles.If it's the Dana 35, cancel the order. You'll wind up snapping that axle once the tire grabs after spinning through that wet grass. if you have ABS you have a Dana 35. If it's not ABS you have the 8.25 which that locker I would lock in a heartbeat. Come to think of it, I am this week.
You should have posted a pic of your rear axle if you weren't sure which one you had. It's a lot of money to lose if you got the wrong one.

IMHO, lsd's are the most worthless part of my jeep. if you go anywhere off road, then an open diff will be the bane of your existence. the idea of the open diff is that when you experience tire slip, the tires with the least resistance (grip) will spin, while the other tires remain stationary and dont contribute to your traction. but when locked, if there is slip, the locker engages and applies full torque to both wheels.
as once explained to me: locking one axle (on a 4x4) gives you true 2wd when 4wd is not engaged, and true 3wd when 4wd is engaged.
