All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
I have a 2000 XJ that has been having problems starting for a year. It will start a few times after the starter is replaced and then stop completely until the starter is replaced again. This is now starter 11. Flywheel was replaced, but still experiencing issue. Any ideas?

Are you bench testing the starters that are coming out?? 11 is past the point of comical. The starter is NOT the root cause.
Assuming the starter is ACTUALLY bad -- I would keep my mind open to the possibility they're not failed - something is causing them to burn out well ahead of even the "Made in China" junk part normal lifetime. What could that be?? Is the battery FUBAR? Are you cranking them excessively?? Are they getting a surge of power that blows them out? Are they getting drowned in oil from a number of leaks that are being ignored? This is where you need to consider focusing on to find the cause.
I suspect the starters are not really failing.
I would start with your battery cables and wiring. I would bet that you're getting a crappy connection and after some time, either loose bolts, shaky connections, an intermittent ground disconnection is causing you to believe the starter has failed. When you replace it each time - you get a good connection for a short time until eventually something shakes loose.
Now maybe I'm wildly speculating. I am actually. However, you're not being very forthcoming with information - so you leave much room for that.
Consider what I've opined and whether it's close to home or wildly off-base --- definitely provide a lot more details, maybe some pictures, etc. so folks can help you with more specific and directed advice.

That is the definition of insanity. I would have changed the mechanic after the second one.
I had a similar issue clean up all the grounds along the block pas side and follow the wire from the starter into the fuse box along the passenger side rail clean and tighten it up mine was loose causing in and out power surges.. messed up my alternator bad until we found it..
