starter problems
hi, I'm having starter problems. I have a 95 Cherokee with automatic transmission, about 13 months ago I had a friend put a starter on for me, a couple of weeks later I had to get a new battery ( battery was only a yr. old & still under warranty ) the mechanic that put it in asked me about my starter, I told him I just had one put in, he said it sounded bad so he got another starter (with the warranty I had on it) at the place I had purchased it from. He put it on for me. Well now about 13 yrs. later I'm told my starter is no good. today a friend said something about a flywheel. What could be causing the starter to go bad so fast ( re manufactured one) & does a flywheel have anything to do with a starter.? I thought a flywheel was for manual transmissions something to do with the clutch. Thanks, hope to hear from someone
Try shifting into neutral and starting it up. If it start up easily the the culprit is the NSS.
On automatic transmissions its called flex plate not flywheel.
Also check if your battery cables are in good condition and the connections are clean
