Hey I wanted to give you all an update. All it ended up being was the back two bolts/nuts for the intake/exhaust manifolds were a little loose. Got those tightened and now there's no whistle. Thanks again for the help!

Hey i am having the same issue with my 2000 xj where exactly was those bolts/nuts can you upload a picture ?

They are referring to the exhaust/intake manifold bolts. However, another likely culprit for the whistle is the idle air control valve housing.

Yours might be because of a broken vacuum hose. They generally snap by the passenger side at the firewall, bit it makes the AC only work on defrost.


Is that right!?? So if I have a vacuum hose leak or it's broken or somewhere on the passenger side by the firewall that would put my AC only on defrost by default? Because that's where I'm having issues cuz I can't get my AC to switch over to front vents
