Loud hum from heater

Loud hum from heater
When I first bought this xj last year, the heater worked fine, however only on high. I assumed I need the resistor for it. Just recently I noticed it was very loud, creating almost a bass sound from the dash. The other day, it increased in noise, and is now louder than the engine, or anything. I can feel a vibration in the dash and steering wheel.
would this still be the blower motor? I looked at other posts but nobody described this sound, more of a rattling, or clicking. Mine doesn't do that. Just a deep loud hum.
