Default 1989 Cherokee 4.0 will not run

Just joined this group and I'm in need of some help. I have a 1989 Cherokee with the 4.0 6 cylinder. When I bought the jeep I was told it needed a fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. The jeep still won't run. It will start with starter fluid but cuts off once that burns out. I hooked a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and I'm not getting a reading, am I suppose to bleed it somehow? I'm getting fuel out of the line that hooks into the fuel pressure regulator but nothing on the fuel rail. I'm not sure which direction to go now and any help would be appreciated.

Lots of posts to review on this site regarding the Renix fuel injection system so have a look at them. You can download the manual and look at that as well. You need to verify that the fuel pump is working. No pressure on the rail is not a good sign. Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to RUN (not start)?

Could be a faulty pump or no voltage or ground to the pump.

3 wires at the pump connector. Harness side:

Orange is power when cranking or running. Black is ground.

I can hear the pump prime up and before i put the lines on i turned the key on to make sure it would spit fuel out which it did. I have fuel at the pressure regulator but cant get a reading on the rail. How long should it take to bleed it off? I cant get any fuel out by pushing the little nipple in either

So many unknowns...from a bad replacement pump to a possible crushed fuel line to a bad regulator dumping fuel right back into the tank.
First thing I'd try is putting the old regulator back on. See if anything changes.
If not, can you rig up some adapters and get the pressure gauge connected to the fuel supply line coming into the engine bay? If it's low there, try connecting to the line feeding the fuel filter to see what the pump is putting out.
