Default 1988 starts revs to 2000 rpm then dies

Saw a thread with the same problem and someone said check for fuel pressure at the rail by turning the key on and pushing the schrader valve in and fuel should shoot out. I did this and not even a drop came out. Then I started it and let it die and pushed it in agin and still not even a drop. Then I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and started it and the pressure jumped to 39 then dropped to zero then it died a few seconds later. Any ideas?

Default Same issue.

I have a 1989 Jeep Comanche. Recently, I repaired the power steering pump. When I tried to start the Jeep to bleed the power steering system, it wouldn't start. The symptoms are similar to the one you described (i.e., revs quickly to 2000 rpm and then dies after a second or two). What was your solution?

Ballast resistor for the fuel pump may be bad.

Jumper across it.

Default Thanks!

The resistor wasn't bad, but it was the issue. I accidentally removed one of the connectors when I removed the air filter box. The way the wire fell caused it to be easily overlooked. Thanks Big Time!!
