Ok so I've been doing some research on here and Google. I found I have the 0331 head however I can't tell if it has the TUPY stamp. I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right spot. Take care ff the oil fill cap and look straight down? I didn't see TUPY so I'm assuming it's not and that my head is cracked due to unexplained coolant loss.. Just changed my oil and it looks s little milky and my oil cap


Am I right in assuming the head is cracked and if so where should I go to get a new one?... Maybe upgrade some parts while I'm in there?

Oh dang that's nasty looking, most definitely something cracked or leaking coolant into the crankcase for it to look like that. A cracked head should show up on either a leakdown test or cooling system pressure test, but if you pull the valve cover off you can probably locate the crack. Look between cylinders #3 and 4, will look something like this:

unless it has been already changed you DO NOT have a TUPY. They did not come out until late 2002

I'm not sure if it's been changed that's why I was asking if I looked in the right place.. I just bought it a week ago and changed the oil 5 days ago.. All my troubleshooting has lead to the cracked head.. Just wanted to make sure before I go drop 500$ on a new one

take off the oil fill cap and look with a flashlight directley under hole. You will see TUPY in big letters

Well that's unfortunately exactly where I looked... Looks like I'll be calling Clearwater tomorrow... Anything else I should look for while its opened up? Possibly anything else I might need to purchase to replace the head? Also I noticed a bolt to be snapped off is that replaceable?

Besides the head you need a new head gasket, head bolts, and I'd do a thermostat and water pump while you're at it unless they are newer. New spark plugs would be a good idea too and a new valve cover gasket.

Is that broken bolt one of the valve cover bolts? You're getting rid of that head so I wouldn't worry about it, just get a new bolt. Pretty sure it's 1/4" 20 x 1 inch long. If the broken one is stopping you from getting the valve cover off try getting the washer off and then using vice grips to unthread the broken part.

Before you start ordering parts, what is your oil pressure at hot idle? I wouldn't go through the time and expense of a head swap if your bearings are shot due to exposure to coolant..

Add valve cover gasket and intake/exhaust manifold gasket.

Yes do this, as if there was water in the oil for very long it may need to be overhauled.
