Good news. I found a couple TB's at the JY today. One is a 96 from a XJ and the other is a 97 from a WJ. I was able to pick up both of them for $25 each. The shape of the TPS plug lock tab and the connector pins are different between the two of them, but they are identical otherwise. The MAP sensors are shaped different in the way the screws mount them to the TB, and the connectors are also different. I'll compare them to my '02 WJ and see if they look the same.
Do you want me to Cerokote these so you can see what they look like before I send them in? I've got a blast cabinet here and both aluminum oxide and glass bead media I can use.

You could, but I put them in a parts washer for a few hrs after boring and blasting to flush any residue from the bearings and try to clean out the IAC ports. That stuff is pretty weak though, and may not hurt the finish......up to you. The lathe also grabs the top in 3 places, but that is hidden by the intake hose.

I'll see what I can do. I've got a gallon of Berrymans B-12 I can use to get it washed out after the blasting. If that doesn't get it clean, nothing will. As far as using the parts washer after maching? Go right ahead, it won't hurt the Cerokote at all. I doubt the chuck jaws will even mar the finish. It's pretty tough stuff.
The TPS and MAP plug ends (ie: plug size and plug lock type) and the connector pins (flat vs round) are both different between the 96 and 97. However, the TB body castings look like they'll accept either type of sensor. I'll find out for sure when I get correct Torx bits to allow me to remove them. Here's a couple of pics to show the differences in the TPS and MAP.

No Renix....I tried. First I had to build a special jig to mount that bloody thing on a lathe. Then I had to bore the heck out of it.... and right before I got to the point that I could use an HO throttle plate....I blew a hole right thru the side of it. Scrap
