Default Rear shoulder belt mounts

So I picked up some rear 3 point seat belts.

I've seen a few threads and a video on installing. Everything matches up except the hole for the top mount. Is there something I'm missing here.

In the video the upper mount looks like this.

My upper holes look like this and the hole is to big for the bolt.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's an 87. I know they didn't have them factory pre 90, but the video and thread were talking about an 86.

Can the nut be added? Or any suggestions?

My daughter won't ride in it until I add rear belts.

You could probably put in a nutsert if you can get one to fit that hole. Not that tough to do

I'd personally use a proper anchoring plate instead of a nut insert. I stripped mine when removing the seatbelt so had to put another in.

These are what I used but this is a UK company, I'm sure you'll find some in the US.

I welded it in place but 2 rivets would suffice to hold it in place.

Maybe this would work?

Looks spot on. With all of those pre drilled holes, you may even get 2 to align with the originals. It's only to hold it in place to help get the seatbelt bolt in.

Before you fit the belt, make sure that the spacer collar on the bolt spins freely. Mine had rusted solid and was the reason it ended up stripping the threads trying to remove it.

Thanks.

I also found some like this. I may order a couple different styles to see what fits best.

Personally I'd be going with the oval style one just as it has more metal around the threads and more surface area. Either would be fine though.

That's my first choice too. I just can't find dimensions on it to make sure it will fit right.

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit. If I remember correctly, there's a large opening right by the rear hatch that should get it in easily enough. It's just a matter of sliding it to where it needs to go and holding it in place to rivet or however you choose it to the body. Just be sure you place it behind the panel and not on top as in the picture you provided.

I plan on going behind the panel. I just wasn't sure how much room there is to get it in there.

By drawing some squares in MS Paint, my rough estimate is the oval is 4.5" x 2.8" in size.
