Default 91 XJ- Mystery plug, under dash, passenger side

Under the dash on the passenger side, near the kick panel, there is a black mystery plug. This plug has 6 wires, and the plug itself is surrounded by black foam.

The 6 wires coming out of it are-

White
Black w/ green stripe
Black w/ blue stripe

Orange w/ black stripe
Blue w/ red stripe
Purple w/ green stripe

Maybe it has to do with the heater because of the foam? Other than that, I have no idea what this plug is for. Any ideas? Thanks.

They sound like speaker wiring, maybe that's a cable that plugs into a CD changer?

I thought it might be related to the speakers or stereo, but none of the wire colors from this plug match to any stereo/speaker wires.

This is a 91 Cherokee Laredo. Did they come with CD changers back then?

@RedOctopus That's your diagnostic connector for an OBD scanner.

Thanks . . . .

Probably loosened from the original location so the original owner could mount the trailer brake controller. And after 20 +/- years, it's worked itself loose.
