Default Random plug under the dash help

SO

I'm in the process of putting a 98 dash in my 89 Comanche. Everything is plugged up but this random male plug. The description is. It's an off white plug with a red safety clip retaining the wires. There are three wires a black (ground) a red with white strip and a blue with white strip. On a 5 wire option plug. The blue wire is a live line it's hot. So I don't know what it plugs into. This plug comes out of the center of the dash where the cluster, switch panel and a/c pannel wiring joins to the main harness. Anyone have any incite

no ithe foglights, rear defoger, and rear wiper plugs are there. this is on the factory 98 xj sport dash wiring harness. i still have no fuel nor spark so it may have something to do with it. i have power at all units but no fuel gauge nor battery idk whats going on.

Do you have tweeters? My 89 had a similar plug for the tweeters and I know that automakers like to stick to one harness for all of their submodels to save $$ so it could be for that. I do know my jeep is a few years older but that plug is really similar to my tweeter plug

User "odgreen" would know. He's an admin on here and he recently did the same swap on his '89 XJ. Send him a pm... you can send the link to your thread too so you don't have to retell the whole story if you want.

I have a 98 and have that same plug. According to the electrical diagram, it is for the blend door actuator. However, my 98 has a mechanical blend door (cable driven) and not an electrical, so this harness isn't connected. I do know that they did have both options on 98 and up model years as I attempted to get parts for mine off of the same model year at the salvage yard only to find out that the vehicle I was getting parts out of had an electrical blend door actuator and didn't match what I had. The bad part is that you can't do a swap without replacing the entire hvac box because the ones with the mechanical actuator do not have a removable actuator, which kind of sucks. What you are looking at is DB/WT is the fused ignition switch output, the rd/wt is the blend door feedback signal, and the black is a ground
