Just bought this 88xj 4.0L and the speedo cable is busted. I want to replace it but im not sure if this is stock or what this round part attached is. This jeep is on 35s and has 4.10 gears so im assuming maybe a speed correction device. It has 2wires attached. Any ideas?
Here's the parts list for an Auto. A manual trans uses the same part number. Note they are all discontinued, but you can search on the PN and hopefully get hits on ebay or other online soruces.
There is a one-piece cable from an early Wrangler that will work if you don't care about cruise control.
You need to measure yours and determine what type of connection it has at the speedo head.
Just replaced mine on my 88.

The pioneer is a little more expensive but it is better built and comes with the grommet for the firewall. It will eliminate the CC short cable and sensor but by the looks of it that isn't being used.
Thanks guys. I dont care about the cruise control so i plan on just replacing the cable. Then ill figure out my gear ratio fix. Its got 35” tires and 410 gears. I just got this thing so i just wanna get it drivable for now

Yes all is good. I have yet to get a new speedo cable but have taken care of many other issues. Currently using my phone to track speed but speedo cable coming soon. New threads coming soon covering my other issues with jeep and my fixes with pics of course.
