Im wondering if this is a sign of scorching from heating up previously from the PO.
It engages and disengages fine with no odd noises. But dont know if the clutch assembly might be ready to head south on me.
you can see some "bluing" on the clutch assembly edge. Which is what makes me think its gotten pretty hot prevoiusly.... thoughts?

That's all normal , they do get hot at times kicking in and out going down the road .

 

If so that's great. I just want to be sure Im not looking at the clutch assembly on its way south and have it seize and cause worse problems. 😁

I dont believe Ive had another vehicle that has done that before so I had to ask. As Murphy likes to follow my butt around. Lol

 

Any other votes as to if this is normal or if I need to be eyeballing it closer as a possible replacement?

Okay... just with the discolouration on the edge of the clutch assembly, I wasn't sure if that was a sign of it getting seriously overheated previously or not.
I just moved here from overseas... I had a Honda CRV in Australia, that I came to find out that the a/c system on them was pure dog poo. And if used after getting hot like that, they were well known for imploding and taking out the entire system...turning a $300 dollar compressor replacement to costing well over 2 grand because it would implode at the compressor and then push all the fragments all through the system and condenser before you could shut it down. And to top it all off... when the clutch assembly went on them... they would seize causing the belt to burn/break and add more fun to your day by leaving you right where you were. And in Aus, that could easily be a very dangerous level of exposure.

that's the reason for this thread... and me possibly being a little over cautious due to what I experienced with my vehicle just prior to this one. Granted it was in another country, but I know Honda of North America also had a class action suit filed for the same reason on the same years as mine was over in Aus.

So I appreciate the honest feedback on the discolouration on the clutch side metal.

 

the area I was referring to in my pic is on the clutch assembly directly behind the belt, (towards the compressor)

Yes, I saw that. Looks normal.

 

Looks normal. If it had gotten dangerously hot you would likely see brown discoloration or melting on the white wiring that feeds the coil.
