A/C Compressor to Air Compressor
What mods to the factory A/C compressor needs to be done to convert it to an air compressor?
I have all the factory A/C parts removed except the compressor.

You would mainly need a way to keep the stock compressor oiled. A york compressor would be a better bet since it has an oil sump but i'm not sure if there is enough clearance to mount one on a xj. You would also need a pressure switch to kick off the compressor once desired pressure is reached for safety reasons, Hose and various fitting as well. Are you planning on running a tank?

I figured I needed an oiler of some sort. I am going to put a pressure switch on it to shut the pump off at 125 PSI and a pop off valve on the tank to go off at 175 PSI in case the pressure switch fails.
Which one of the fittings is the inlet and or outlet on the stock A/C compressor?
I am going to run a small tank. It will be mounted in the cargo area.

you will need a filter and an in line oiler to go to the input side of the compressor, on the out put sid eyou will need a 1 way check valve, an air oil seperator, and a manifold, on the maifold mount you pressure switch and you pop off valve as well as you inlet ond outlet lines, run the outlet line to your tank , wir up your switch and bam. i did this in about two hours and under 150$

Have you had any problems with the stock A/C compressor using it for this?
