I bought the set for 4-6" lift so there was no question about whether they would be long enough..

okay, got the 3" lift and quick disconnects in... No TC drop.
It vibrates and hums pretty bad between 20mph and 30mph. Also when I let off the gas without feathering it, I hear a rubbing sound. Like a light pressure grind. I am not driving it like that, SYE getting done on the 5th..
Then I'll try to do track bar and brake lines myself... wrist allowing :/
That stuff is pretty easy, I'd hate to have to pay someone to do it. But it is what it is.

ffeng31:
Do you think your 3" lift setup would have rubbed, had your bs been 3.75" instead of 4"?
I am just asking because the selection is much wider on 3.75 bs rims than it is for 4"bs.
Do you think the extra 0.25" bs would matter even if I don't go bigger than 30x9.5?
Also, if I wanna go with 15x7" rim instead of 15x8" but still come out as far as yours do (same tire), I would have to split the 1" difference in rim width and get 3.5"bs instead of 4"bs.... correct?

Thanks again!

Fangio76,
With the wheels you have in your pictures, you would be fine with a 3” lift and 30” x 9.5 x 15s. The wheels are 15 x 7s with a backspacing of 5.5”. Any wider or taller, then you will want 1-1/2” wheel spacers. You might get by with 31” x 10.5 x 15s., after that you are looking at wheels with less backspacing, plus trimming, and or fender flares. It is not an exact science and takes some work to go up from there. Do you have any friends that have the same or similar tires and lifts? Maybe try to borrow their wheels and tires and do your own flex tests? You have a nice looking XJ! Benz.

I had plenty of room with the 3" setup with the 30x9.5x15 4" bs wheel tire combo. No rubbing issues at all . The 1/4 inch wont matter at all with that tire size as you will actually be sticking the tire out further. And with the increase in back space either rim width should be fine. My buddy is running 31x10.5x15 with stock 15x7 and 1' spacers and he has no issues as well. Go any taller and wider on 3"lift and i think thats where the problems come in . BTW , look at the TACTIC steel wheels . My daughter and I both have a set and they have been super durable , quality is great, and they come with center caps. Did I mention they are only $40 a piece shipped ?

I had no vibration problems at all with no SYE but I did put in Rustys TC case drop Crossmember. Drops the case with no loss of clearance.
I used the RC HD ADJ track bar and the install is simple.
When doing brake lines be sure to use line wrench as the fittings strip super easy . Great time to put in all new brake fluid as the system will need to be bled thoroughly..

Post some after pics ' would like to see it.

Thank you so much for all your help!
It's funny you mentioned the Tactik wheels because that's exactly what I had already ordered... and that was BEFORE I saw that's what you have, on your build thread. There just isn't much with 4" blackspace out there, it's mostly barren land between 3.75 and 4.5... and yeah those Tactik kept coming up so I got them. I really feel better with 4" anyway because this old school jeep-head buddy of mine up in Indiana, whose opinion I hold highly as he's owned and rigged about 7 or 8 Jeeps and and has gone through just about anything you can imagine that could happen with stock or modded jeeps, told me that when it comes to wheels I can get away with pushing them out (offset) about 1" more than stock without anything else on the jeep "knowing" about it. Past 1", it gradually begins to affect other things.. including tire wear.
Since my whole point of this build is to bring it up from stock just enough to do some "moderate" stuff, without changing its nature and purpose completely, 4" seems safe enough as it's only 1.25" farther out than stock BS. And I am compensating for some some of that with a 1" wider wheel, which diminishes how far off the center of the tire the wheel would be mounted if i had stuck with 7" instead of 8"

Thanks for all the tips, your build has been a true inspiration. And btw, I had already ordered the same track bar as you did!
Same lift kit, track bar, wheels and brake lines (since I got those from crown you pointed me to). SYE and custom driveshaft came in today.
Gonna work hard on it this weekend and drop it off to the shop for the SYE on Tue... I'm gonna make them put those rims on too, I have to stick with my old tires for a bit (wrangler 235/75/15... so, 29x9.25x15 basically). Too much thread left to justify a new set after all I have spent on this project, haha. Need to recharge my play money fund.
I will def post pics! Thanks again to all of ya

Quick disconnects, 3" lift, SYE + Driveshaft (Adams Driveshafts "Rock Crawler") and rims.
Still need to put on the track bar and brake lines. 30x9.5 tires coming soon, when these wear out, haha. there's still 1/3 of the tread left. I'd rather allocate funds on other things for now. Drives real good. Vibration is now gone completely. VERY happy so far.
