Hi - I just bought a 1987 Cherokee. Can someone tell me, judgment spared, what this ripped hose is? It's not only ripped along the line, but detached from the metal pipe that I presume it's supposed to be attached to.

Thanks!
That's just a plastic sleeve man. The actual hose looks alright. It's the power steering pump hose to the power steering gear box.
To clarify, I meant the papery looking hose underneath it. You can see that it has several tears in it and the head of said hose is detached from whatever pipe that is.
Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand

No, I don't know what that hose is. Nothing like it on my 94 or 97. Looks like what is sometimes used for air intakes. Maybe somebody cobbled together a cold air intake. If so, lose it. That's too small for a Jeep air intake.
Reminds me of the flex tubing they would run from the exhaust manifold into the air cleaner on carburated engines to warm it up a little faster since you can't just start it and go with a carb. I dont see the purpose on a fuel injected engine.
